Fault Finding

Electrical Fault Finding & Diagnostic Electrician London

Fixed-fee £90 covers diagnosis and the first hour of fault finding. Tripping RCDs, intermittent power loss, sockets without power, hidden cable faults — solved by NICEIC engineers.

Reviewed by James Whitfield, Director & Qualifying Supervisor — last updated

Faults rarely advertise themselves cleanly. Modern installations mix mains-derived loads, switched-mode supplies, EV chargers and IT equipment — and the "RCD keeps tripping" complaint can hide ten different root causes. Our fixed-fee £90 covers diagnosis and the first hour of fault finding — we make the installation safe before we quote any remedial work.

Why Electrician London

£90 fixed-fee diagnostic

No hourly meter for the first hour. You see the fault before you see the quote.

Non-invasive testing

We use insulation, earth-continuity and loop-impedance tools to isolate faults without unnecessary disruption to finishes.

NICEIC-certified remedials

Where the diagnosis leads to remedial work, we issue an NICEIC Minor Works or full EIC for that work.

Same-day across London

Engineers dispatched same day from our Barking HQ. Zones 1–3 typically within 90 minutes.

Frequently asked questions

How does the £90 fixed fee work?

It covers the call-out, the diagnostic, and the first 60 minutes of fault finding. If additional time or parts are needed, you'll see a fixed-price quote before we proceed. The fee covers any necessary make-safe even if the full repair has to be quoted separately.

How long does a typical diagnostic take?

Most domestic faults are isolated within 30–60 minutes. Hidden cable damage or intermittent faults can take longer — we keep you informed once we hit the hour mark, and you decide whether to authorise additional time before any charges accrue.

Can you fix the fault on the same visit?

Most surface-mountable repairs (replacing a damaged socket, a failed RCD, a worn lamp holder) we complete same-visit at the quoted parts cost. Faults requiring lifted floors, new cable runs or board changes are quoted for a follow-up booking.

Do you carry stock?

Our vans carry the 30+ most common faults parts: RCBOs, RCDs, sockets, switches, lamp holders, common fuses and MCBs. Specialist items (smart breakers, commercial accessories) are usually next-day.
